Having already crashed a few planes, yet allowed to keep his wings because you can’t ground the son and grandson of four-star admirals, I’d say he was NOT doing a barrel roll. Analysis of his own report confirms that he was bucking protocol and supposed to pull up as he was under heavy lower-altitude fire. He got shot down because he shouldn’t have been allowed to fly.
